Riquelme Opens Doors for Paredes Return to Boca

The president of Boca, Juan Román Riquelme, referred to rumors pointing to Leandro Paredes as a possible addition to the club in June 2025. Riquelme expressed that although the player recently renewed his contract with Roma, the doors of Boca will always be open for him.

Riquelme mentioned that he and Paredes have a good relationship and that he would like to have him on the team in the future. He recalled that he had previously urged the management to trust the player and give him a chance at Boca. However, previous negotiations with the former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus player did not succeed due to economic differences.

The world champion also explained that Paredes had sought to match his salary with that of Edinson Cavani, the highest-paid player in the squad, which was not accepted by Boca's Football Council, leading to the failure of the operation. Riquelme clarified that, given Paredes' recent contract renewal with Roma, it is inappropriate to speculate about his possible arrival at Boca in June.

Additionally, Riquelme denied rumors of any discord with the midfielder and highlighted that he holds a special appreciation for him since they shared a team in their early days. Ultimately, Juan Román Riquelme made it clear that, despite the current circumstances, the door of Boca will always be open for Leandro Paredes and that they maintain a cordial relationship.
